In a first for one of the UK’s biggest sporting events, stand-out Elonex digital visual technology is set to light up this year’s Great North CityGames.
The Great North CityGames is staged the day before the world’s biggest half marathon, the Great North Run, and sees some of the best known athletes from around the globe compete alongside the very best of UK home-grown talent.
Taking place on the banks of the Tyne in Newcastle and Gateshead, and with crowds of over 25,000 expected, this year’s Great North CityGames will see its pop-up street level athletics track lined with 200 metres of Elonex high-tech digital screening.
The digital screening, which was installed by a team of Elonex engineers in the early hours of Friday 9th September, will light up the track and add to the spectacle at what’s become an incredible annual sporting occasion in the North of England.
The screens will be in constant use throughout the whole of the Great North CityGames and will broadcast revolving messages from the race sponsors, which will be unmissable to the huge crowds and the millions watching on BBC television.
A top-class field has assembled to do battle at the Great North CityGames, over the Great North Run weekend, and includes Olympic champions Greg Rutherford and David Rudisha, as well as a whole host of athletes who recently competed at the Olympics in Rio.
To add to the excitement, this year’s event is doubling up as a celebration of Great Britain’s success in the Rio Olympics, with the Elonex digital screening helping to create the perfect setting to welcome home our Team GB heroes.
