Elonex has been announced as official sponsors of the 2017 Chinese New Year Festival in Birmingham.
The Edgbaston-based visual technology firm is to support one of the most widely celebrated annual festivals in the city, as people from all communities come together on Sunday 29th January to welcome in the Year of the Rooster.
This year’s Chinese New Year Festival in Birmingham is set to be bigger and better than ever, with celebrations taking place across Hurst Street, Ladywell Walk and the Arcardian Centre in the city’s Southside district. Visitors can look forward to a day of fabulous entertainment, including live performances, traditional lion and dragon dancers, funfair rides, street food, martial arts, cultural demonstrations and Chinese magic.
The 2017 Chinese New Year Festival is a free event and organisers expect up to 50,000 people to attend.
In addition to sponsoring the event, Elonex will also be providing giant LED screens in and around the festival to add to its visual impact.
Commenting on the sponsorship, James B Wong, chairman of Birmingham’s Chinese Festival Committee, said:
“We’re delighted to announce Elonex as a proud sponsor of the 2017 Birmingham Chinese New Year Celebration. Chinese New Year is the biggest festival on the Chinese calendar, and this is my second year in charge of organising Birmingham’s celebration. This year we have put in a huge effort and from previous years’ experience, I’m very confident that the people of Birmingham will see the biggest Chinese New Year celebration to date, in welcoming the Year of the Rooster.”
Nick Smith, CEO at Elonex added:
“It’s an honour to be given the opportunity to fully support this huge annual celebration in Birmingham, and to play a part in making the festival the best yet. Our sponsorship further strengthens our commitment to promote big events in Birmingham, and we trust our involvement will benefit both the local Chinese business community and the city in general.”
Elonex has a long history of supporting Birmingham city centre events and works closely with the City Council and city business leaders. The firm recently installed a network of LED screens in Birmingham for its Christmas celebrations and Frankfurt Market, has been involved in screening major events in the city centre such as the Rugby World Cup and partners with local organisers to deliver film festivals and other large scale public attractions.
