Big Screens Bring Olympic Spirit to Birmingham

August 5, 2016

As the 2016 Olympic Games get under starters orders, sports fans across Birmingham can look forward to catching the action from Rio on giant Elonex digital screens at two prime locations in the city.
Giant Elonex digital screens will be broadcasting coverage from Rio 2016 at Resorts World Birmingham and in Golden Square, which is in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
An unmissable 30m² Elonex digital screen has been in place at Resorts World Birmingham since June as part of the leading leisure and entertainment complex’s ‘Big Summer of Sport’ attraction. The screen has already broadcast live action from lots of major events including Euro 2016 and Wimbledon, and coverage of the Olympics marks the finale of what’s proved an extremely popular initiative with visitors. The screen will be in operation for the whole of Rio 2016, making  Resorts World Birmingham a must-visit to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy all the high performance Olympic drama.
The Elonex digital screen in Golden Square is the focal point of a special three day public event taking place at the Jewellery Quarter, starting on Friday 5th August. The ‘Open Air Olympics’ event celebrates the start of Rio 2016, with a mixture of family films, the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony and action from the first weekend of the Olympics all being screened. There’s also lots of fun activities and even a midnight picnic on offer, at what’s sure to be one of the year’s best events in Birmingham and one that will certainly stir the Olympic spirit in the big crowds that are expected to gather!
Both Elonex screens feature the very latest in digital display and audio technology, and deliver an unbeatable outdoor viewing experience. Elonex has worked very closely with both venues to ensure these large scale events prove highly successful, and the digital screens will be broadcasting action from the Olympics to big crowds in Birmingham amid local press reports that have heavily criticised the city for being one of a few in the UK not to have invested in an official public Rio 2016 Fanzone.
